alien invasions

opens today in our country Monsters, a film which depicts the troubles of two Americans trying to leave a buffer zone of aliens in New Mexico. At first the film looks good, but it makes me ask, are we running cinema of aliens?.

me explain: Historically, alien invasions and vicissitudes of these on our planet by way of lost explorers have been a very exploited. From the Earth Stood Still (which is the oldest get to remember), we have been invaded and explored countless times and from all possible viewpoints, as famous examples appoint ET, Independence Day , Alien "and Men in Black, 4 tapes completely different genres (adventure, action, horror and comedy). Advances in digital technology and special effects have made it possible also that the barrier of reality virtually disappear, today, with money you can make any creature is fairly credible CGI, and this has resulted in many movies with aliens. And in my humble opinion, can this 'boom ' seriously impair science fiction cinema, one of the few genres that is not falling in remakes these days when the writers with original stories and prefer to spend the television film.

market is the law, if a product is expensive, it makes little, and what comes out, it has quality, but at the time that a process is automated and is cheap to make, to churn out units, and that affects the quality. Obviously there will always be films that continue to have good quality, but today we announce trash every few minutes. For example: In less than a year, we have 3 invasions films, either voluntarily or involuntarily as Skyline, Monsters and Battlefield Los Angeles (soon to be released), but the second the group would get into films as Cloverfield (Cloverfield) . The first was one of those movies are going to do with wanting to see effects and a story plan 'we always won' . An American, that we understand. And it is just the opposite, which is not bad, but the main point in his favor. But the compliments end there, because although the effects were impressive, the plot has holes everywhere, virtually no developing the film, everything is approach the situation, and when it finally starts to be something of chicha in history .. .. end. Ends and you stay with stupid face because I could have got something developing the script interesting. The result is that people do not like. The special effects do not compensate for the lack of script, but if 2012 has more history, and that's saying a lot! Not to mention the suspicious resemblance to the aliens brains of Futurama.

Monsters, however, is more like it might be a typical movie where the alien beings are just an excuse to develop the relationship between the two protagonists, a movie about misery, poverty, human relations ... . and monsters from another planet in the background. Have effects, be that good, but they will be few and well into the movie, for not be distracted from the main theme. Still I will see, is what has to be unconditional this film, but knowing what it is. The problem, again, is the general public, which they sell as aliens and lost people, people want to see aliens and lost. In general, people react badly to surprises about the trailer, like to see what they sell and nothing else, but really do not care what you do and how you do, someone is not going to like, but that's another story we'll talk another day.

Back then, I do not foresee much success, because that kind of story, unless you have many bugs or anything that mole, as action, chases and stuff, not usually work.

And we go with that, a priori, is the strongest film of the three: Battlefield Los Angeles. We, again, a story of alien invasion and that, as in Skyline, but the trailer leave you quite clearly that there will be personal stories of several characters, so we have that human factor melodrama that we are so Like the style of Independence Day . Hopefully it is not in something like that, American-style, because to me it would be a very big FAIL, I want some originality, innovation .... we'll see what happens. Particularly in March.

Everything I have said does not mean I do not like the fact that there are many alien movies with effects achieved the opposite. But it is more difficult to find anything original or quality District 9. In fact, without the advances in digital effects, could not have been brought to the big screen stories like The Fog , truly magnificent. Just put a 'but' motivated by my interest.

I can not finish this post without talking about a movie that I look forward: Paul . The story is typical, but the fact that Simon Pegg and Nick Frost makes it a must for a fan of Shaun of the Dead and Fuzz. I leave the trailer for those not familiar with this particular alien;)
