Invader Zim is a cult television series that aired on Nickelodeon in the United States in 2001, created by cartoonist and writer Jhonen Vasquez and directed by Steve Ressel.
The plot revolves around an alien named Zim, originally from the Irken Empire, whose desire is to control the entire universe. The Higher send it, along with the robot GIR, to colonize a distant planet known and to get rid of its uselessness and the damage it leaves in its wake. That planet is Earth, and there meets his nemesis Zim, Dib.
Invader Zim is a series full of sarcasm, social criticism, black humor, exaggerated and dark themes. Despite all that, he became a cartoon for children 9 and older. Nickelodeon canceled the series, considering costly and somewhat eccentric for young audiences.
